Tucked away on the side of Church Bank, just 1/2 mile from the centre of Clun you will find Thomas Cottage. With luxuriously appointed en-suite rooms, mouth-watering breakfast and fabulous views this peaceful bed and breakfast is a special place to stay.
A warm welcome awaits you on arrival in this delightful corner of South Shropshire, along with complimentary tea and cake in the guest breakfast room. Once you have made yourself at home, feel free to wander out to the garden to enjoy the stunning views down the valley, or take a stroll down to Clun to see the ancient pack horse bridge and seventeenth century almshouses and gardens. Of course there is Clun castle to explore and the winding river complete with geese and some of the loveliest ducks. Guide books on Clun and the surrounding area, as well as maps of Shropshire, are available from the breakfast room for guests to use during their stay.
Evening meals are available at local pubs and restaurants and whatever ambience you prefer, there is bound to be an eatery to your taste nearby. Clun itself offers two pubs/restaurants within walking distance. Once you have returned to Thomas Cottage, you can relax in your room or the sitting room with a choice of hot beverages and enjoy the peace of this little country cottage, though you may hear the occasional hooting of an owl!
To enable guests to really get away from it all we do not provide TV! However for those who enjoy relaxing with a film there is a DVD player, but please bring your own DVD’s.
Breakfast at Thomas Cottage is a leisurely affair with the pleasure of the wood burning stove on cooler days. There is a wide choice of menu using mainly locally sourced, fairly traded or home produced products including our own honey, eggs, marmalade and preserves.
Whether you are here to visit family and friends, walking, sight seeing or just taking a break, South Shropshire has much to offer. Market towns such as Ludlow, Bishop’s Castle, Church Stretton and Much Wenlock are within an easy drive. For shopping and sightseeing you can take the train from Craven Arms to Shrewsbury, where the station is right in the centre of town! For walkers and cyclists there are numerous bridleways just a stone’s throw from Thomas Cottage including the Jack Mytton Way and the Shropshire Way, or you can venture a few miles further afield onto the Offa’s Dyke path or the Kerry Ridgeway.
